"There are two ways of exerting one's strength: one is pushing down, the other is pulling up."

—Booker T. Washington
U.S. educator (1856 - 1915)

I grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and graduated from Philadelphia High School for Girls, an AMAZING magnet school in the northern part of the city. From there, I attended Hampton University, a college founded by Samuel Chapman Armstrong and deeply rooted in its traditions. My journey as a military spouse led me to California State University Sacramento for undergraduate and graduate studies. For some insane reason, I decided to get a Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning with Technology at Ashford University (definitely an awakening). So how did I land in Central NY? My husband! My spouse lived in Upstate NY until he joined the US Air Force; we returned to CNY in 2008 (with two kids in tow) in order to plant roots and spend time with family. It is my hope that my next adventure will lead me down the path of published novelist--if I can ever manage to finish what I started. I have managed to have a few short stories published on-line, so I guess I should get going on this novel business. I love to teach, write, compose music, camp, craft, sing, and COOK! By the way, I go completely gaga over the color PURPLE,the amazing ladies in my graduating class, my bow & arrow, beautiful southern porches, and seafood.
