IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

  • BOCES is offering a Drivers Education Course in Spring of 2017. Classes will be Monday-Wednesday March 13th-May 10th 4:00-7:00pm. Students 16 years of age or older can enroll in this State Education Department approved course that teaches new drivers how to operate a vehicle safely and in accordance with NY traffic laws. Successful graduates receive an MV-285 student certificate (formerly known as a blue card). A combination of classroom and on-the-road instructions is included. Students must have learner's permit. 100% attendance required. There are additional fees for make-up hours. Registration is taken by telephone only: please call (315) 361-5800.
  • Lockheed Martin is sponsoring an Engineering/Scientific career Explorer Post for the 2016-2017 school year. It is open to any student ages 14-20. For more information please stop by the Guidance Office.
  • Peer Tutoring is available after school in rooms 137 and 139 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please see Mrs. Tucci for more information. See attached file. peer tutoring
  • Male U.S. citizens, wherever they live, and male noncitizens living in the United States, who have reached their 18th birthday but not reached their 26th, are required to be registered with Selective Service. In order to be eligible for Federal Loans, Grants and other benefits you must do one of the following: Register online at www.sss.gov , Fill out a Selective Service registration form at any U.S. post office or Complete the registration reminder postcard that you may receive in the mail shortly before your 18th birthday.

  • MV College Connection Program is under the Department for Student Services. Director Dawson McDermott (315)-731-5819 This is a scholarship program whereby qualified high school Juniors and Seniors in Oneida and Madison County may take approved courses on a part-time basis at MVCC's Utica campus, Rome campus, or online.   • New York State Testing Program New York Regents Exam Online Practice - New York K-12 Curriculum Links www.linkstolearning.com User Name: nyork, Password: preview (case sensitive). Click your state, test, and grade level. The interactive test component uses state released questsions to create new york state testing program practice quizzes that are graded immediuately, providing correct answers, explanations, and web resources for each question. The links to learining website also frames the New York State curriculum online and links you to websites that cover each topic on a grade appropriate level.

  • Free ACT practice questions. This site has study tips and ACT questions with detailed answer explanations. Go to http://www.actexampracticetests.com
  • RIT has available application fee waiver forms for deaf and hard-of hearing students. Stop by guidance for the form and/or go to www.rit.edu/NTID for additional information.

  • Each year Crouse Hospital offers 7 monthly programs about medical care careers. If you are interested in attending, please stop by the Guidance Office. The cost of the entire program is only $30.00.
  • The Canastota Public Library is hosting a program this fall called GEMS (Girls interested in Engineering, Math and Science). If you are a female between the ages of 12-16 please stop by the Guidance Office for more details.


  • The Sherrill Silversmiths, a summer baseball franchise based out of Sherrill, New York, is looking for interns for the 2017 summer season. The internship would run from May 30th until July 31stand include twenty three home games. It is an unpaid position but would provide a great deal of experience to anyone interested in sports management. For more information please stop by the Guidance Office.

  • Any Junior who is thinking about playing sports in college and the Division 1 or 2 level should see Mr. Mengucci as soon as possible.
  • Holy Cross Academy is offering a 5 hour pre-licensing class to the community on the last Saturday of each month beginning April 29th at 8:30am. Cost for the course is $30 if pre registered and $35 at the door. A valid Driver's Permit is required. The School is located at 4020 Barrington Road in Oneida Castle.
