High School Clubs and Activities

Canastota High School offers several clubs and activities for students to explore new interests, become involved in community service projects, and collaborate with their peers. Please review the list below and contact the advisor for more information.

For the student who likes to participate in fun physical activities, crafty projects, cooking/baking and community service projects. Senior High students serve as mentors to the younger members.
Art Club 9-12 Mrs. Boisen For the student with a passion for the arts. Students create art by exploring other mediums that they are not exposed to in class. Students fundraise for an annual overnight trip and visiting artists.

Members learn about drama production and perform a play for the community.

Future Business Leaders of America
9-12 Mrs. Garofalo Members attend workshops and participate in local, state, and national competitions in various business and technology subjects. Community Service is a large part of this organization.

Future Farmers of America
 6-12 Ms. Burnor Learn about the agriculture industry and gain experience through field trips and hands-on activities.
FTA

Future Teachers of America
9-12 Mrs. Moshier The FTA mission is to provide opportunities for members to help others by serving as mentors and tutors.
History Club 9-12 Mrs. Moshier  The mission of History Club is to unite students through activities that allow them to explore different aspects of history.
Honors Program 9-12 Mr. Dwyer

Students grades 9-12 with an overall average of 85 or higher are invited each fall to participate in the Honors Program. Requirements include research, presentations and community service. 
International Club 9-12 Mrs. Alberty

Members learn about other cultures and experience how they live.
Jazz Band   Mr. Stewart Members play in an instrumental group that explores the style of jazz music. 
Marching Band 7-12 Mr. Buneo

Members represent the school in various competitions and parades.
Mathletics 7-12 Mrs. Blenis A good way to boost math grades and a fun way to spend extra time by competing against other schools. 
Musical 9-12 Mr. Buneo

Mr. Coles
Students learn about and produce one musical a year. Rehearsals are usually between January and March with the performance in March. In addition to acting, singing, and dancing, students can work as stage managers in the areas of design and painting, costume and make-up design, pit band, lighting and tech crew. Students are encouraged to get their parents involved in helping out as well.

Students in grades 10-12 are chosen based on scholarship, leadership, service and character. Each fall students who qualify academically are invited to apply. NHS members make a difference in our school and community.

A good way to boost science grades and have fun while learning different things in all science fields.
Science Olympiad 9-12 Ms. Burnor

Mrs. Stagnitti
Members explore various areas of science, from building robots and bridges to solving crime scenes, to testing their knowledge of the sciences. All the hard work culminates in a competition where members test their skills and knowledge.
Select Chorus 9-12 Mr. Buneo Singing group that performs specialized music at various school and community functions.
Ski Club 7-12 Mr. Lasnicki Skiing is a great way for students that are not involved in a winter sport to remain healthy and active during our long Central New York winters. Members will participate in 6 weekly trips to Toggenburg Mountain. Beginners are encouraged to join the club as free ski lessons are provided.
