About me

Welcome to my page.  Being a proud graduate of the Class of 1975, I can say that I have always loved our district and continue to do so as I enter my 21st year of teaching at CHS.  While a student at Canastota, I was an active member of my class, business manager for our yearbook, a member of the high school tennis team, as well as a member of chorus and marching band.  As a student, my concentration was in business.  I especially loved accounting and shorthand.

I began my college career at Morrisville Ag. and Tech. receiving my A.A.S. in Secretarial Science in 1977.  I decided to change my major and continue my education at LeMoyne College where I received my B.S. in Accounting.  I worked in the business sector for over twenty years before I began my career in education.

I accepted a position at Central City Business Institute (CCBI) where I found that I really enjoyed teaching.  This made me decide to continue my education and pursue a Master's Degree in Vocational-Technical Education from SUNY Oswego.  I did my student teaching right here in Canastota and when my high school teachers retired, I was hired as one of the replacement teachers. There is nothing better or makes me more proud than teaching in my old classroom.

I have taught and continue to teach at area colleges including Utica School of Commerce, Cazenovia College, Mohawk Valley Community College, and
Morrisville State College.

I have a passion for business and the hands-on methods that we use to teach skill sets to our students.  These skills are not limited to business and academic knowledge, but also the soft skills that make our students a highly qualified candidate for employment.

I have been the advisor of New York State Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for 21 years.  I am a current member of the New York State FBLA Board of Trustees as well as a Board of Director on the National FBLA-PBL, Inc. Board. All of these experiences have helped me to submerge into FBLA and appreciate what this wonderful organization has to offer our members.

I am involved in community service and with the help of my FBLA chapter members, I believe that we have made our presence known in Canastota.  We are happy to offer our time and assistance where a need exists.

Wishing everyone a great school year!
