Juniors - sign up now for the PSAT in the Guidance Office. Make sure you have your $16 with you when you register.


Male U.S. citizens, wherever they live, and male noncitizens living in the United States, who have reached their 18th birthday but not reached their 26th, are required to be registered with Selective Service. In order to be eligible for Federal Loans, Grants and other benefits you must do one of the following: Register online at www.sss.gov , Fill out a Selective Service registration form at any U.S. post office or Complete the registration reminder postcard that you may receive in the mail shortly before your 18th birthday.

Any student 18 years old and older that enjoy the mechanical side of agriculture should stop by the Guidance Office for an apprenticeship opportunity from the sprinkler fitters association.

Any student that is interested in Plumbing, Welding, Steam Fitting, Pipe Fitting, HVAC and Sprinkler Fitting can visit www.training669.org for more information. Local 669 is the largest local in the UA, primarily because they have jurisdiction in 48 states and have 4 primary districts in NY State, to months, an apprentice will get a pay increase of $2.00 per hour as long as they are keeping up with the demand.  At the 3 month mark, apprentices are enrolled in their Health and Welfare Benefit package, which is the Very best coverage in the country. At the 10 month mark, apprentices will be enrolled in their TWO Pension programs. Upon graduation, a Journey Worker will be paid around $37.00 before overtime.


The Madison County Youth Bureau and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County are offering a fall round of the Exploring County Government program. Juniors or seniors who have a strong interest in learning about county government are encouraged to apply. The program runs from September 25th to December 11th, 8:30 a.m. to noon with one extended session to 1:45 p.m. for Job Shadow Day November 8th. The Syracuse University School of Information Studies has an alum from Canastota that would like to sponsor a female student to attend the 8th Annual It Girls Overnight Retreat. This is a weekend event introducing high school junior and senior girls to the field of information technology. If you are interested please stop by the Guidance Office as soon as possible! The weekend event will be held on October 14th and 15th.
