Global Studies 9
Global Studies 9 is the first part of a two-year course,which culminates with a New York State Regent’s Exam at the end of 10thgrade. In order to graduate, students must earn a score of 55% or higher on this exam.
Curriculum:
Unit1: Ancient World Civilizations and Religions
Unit 2: Expanding Zones of Exchange and Encounter:Regional Civilizations (730BCE-1453)
Unit 3: Global Interactions & Early Modern Times (500-1650)
Unit 4: Early Modern Times (1415-1700)
Assessments:
· Quarterly Assessments (1 per quarter)
· Test/Quizzes
· Classwork/homework
· Projects
· Class participation
Attendance:
Attending class is important in order to be successful in this class. Students are expected to report to class each and every day on time. If a student is absent it is his/her responsibility to see me and find out what was missed. It is understood that a student who is absent may need to stay 10thperiod to learn the material that was taught during the missed class.
Grading:
All assignments will be graded on a point system. Points allotted will vary based on assignment
difficulty, etc. Student averages will be calculated based on points earned out of total points possible.

1) Binder
2) Loose leaf paper
3) Writing utensil
4) Highlighter
