Meet the Teacher

Hi everyone, my name is John Michael Grosso and I am in my 2nd year here at the Canastota Central School District. In my first year, I taught 15:1 Math in Roberts Street, as well as, resource classes for both the 4th and 8th grades. This year, I will be teaching all 15:1 math courses in both the Junior High and High School.

After completing my undergraduate studies, in Elementary Education at SUNY Oswego, I began working as a Teaching Assistant in a Special Education program at OCM BOCES. It was there that I found my love for working with students that struggled to learn. I completed my Masters in Literacy Degree online at Walden University. After completion of my master's degree, I attended LeMoyne University to obtain my teaching certification in Special Education. I worked a total of 8 years for OCM BOCES, 4 as a TA and 4 as a teacher.

I recently moved from Oneida to Canastota with my growing family. My wife of six years is currently pregnant with our second child and is, also, a teacher at a neighboring school. We have a three year old son who is currently our world and he is incredible.

When I’m not teaching you can find me on the football field. I coach JV Football, here, at Canastota with Coach Dwyer, as well as, Ski Club with Mr. Laz. I look forward to raising our son here in Canastota and being as involved as possible in this great community.
